In shocking News, Phuentsholing town decided to come up with a long-term solution to solving the issue of people peeing in the Zangdogpelri park.
Dasho Chakpa Sangay, Director of Bhutan Yeti & Crocodile Foundation, said the crocodiles will be used to deter Indian tourists from peeing in the pool. He, however, made it very clear though that there is no guarantee the crocodiles will not bite Bhutanese citizens. “Therefore, I insist every Bhutanese show their Identity card to the crocodiles.” He added.
Answering the question relating to possible criticism, He said that the public need to trust Government’s decisions which are made for their general good. He also stated that this serves a double purpose: eliminating the need to feed the crocodiles, and keeping population growth in check.
Many doubted it to be some sort of political propaganda; while some even went as far as to point Jaigoan Shopkeeper Motilal’s hand in it. Motilal denied having any part in it and said that the crocodiles he donated were merely for a goodwill purpose.
Bhutanese without citizenship identity card saw this act as mean, inhuman, buffoonish and life-threatening.
“We already bought the crocodiles, and there is nothing we can do about it. What is done is done.” Said Dasho Chakpa Sangay.
